March Break Drum Workshops

Drum and Percussion Circle - ages 5 to 7 years
March 14th, 2012 - 1:00 to 2:00pm

This Drum and Percussion Circle, lead by professional drummer Neal Burstyn, will focus on time (keeping the steady beat), simple rhythm and lots of fun! This is a drop off class geared towards young children. The workshop will include both drums and different percussion instruments. As steady beat is an essential part of music, children can expect to work on their sense of time and coordination. Mastery of steady beat also helps children to develop the ability to ride a bike, cut with scissors, dribble a ball, skate, dance, play sports - anything that takes organizing and coordinating the body in repetitive patterns.

The Drum and Percussion Circle is $30 per child paid by cash or cheque (cash is preferable) and there is a maximum of 10 spaces in the workshop.

Drum and Percussion Circle - ages 8 and up
March 14th, 2012 - 2:30 to 3:30pm

This Drum and Percussion Circle, lead by professional drummer Neal Burstyn, will focus on time (keeping the steady beat), rhythm and ensemble work. Steady beat and rhythm are important elements of music and there are strong correlations to mathematics through time and rhythm as well. Ensemble work is also a very essential part of music and of course transfers over into teamwork skills in school, sports and everyday life as well. Students can expect to play different drums and percussion instruments.

The Drum and Percussion Circle is $30 per child paid by cash or cheque (cash is preferable) and there is a maximum of 10 spaces in the workshop.
