ABC Music And Me

This language and literacy program was originally designed for early childhood learning centres. And we do run these music classes in local public schools, preschools and day care centres in Mississauga. The great thing about this music program is that it’s continuously fresh with new themes, music, stories and rhymes each month. Which also means new home materials each month! In the centres and schools, we run this program without the parent (who is still involved through weekly home communication), in order to provide the opportunity to reach families who might not otherwise get a chance to reap the benefits of Kindermusik. It’s been such a hit, that we decided to bring it in to our main music school location in Port Credit and get the parents involved too!

In the Laugh and Learn series for ages 18 mos to 4 years, your child will play percussion instruments, sing, dance, listen and move in a creative atmosphere. In the Move and Groove series for ages 4 to 6, your child will continue to explore percussion instruments, listening and movement while also being introduced to musical terms, concepts and basic keyboarding skills.

What you’ll experience in class:

• Songs and rhymes to develop phonetic awareness and early reading skills
• Tapping, clacking, and ringing rhythm instruments in time with music to improve hand-eye coordination
• Focused listening with music to improve skills in following directions
• Instrument play to strengthen fine motor skills
• Developmentally-appropriate songs to develop vocal chords and expressive speech
• Learning that emphasizes storytelling, imaginative play, and taking turns

Registration includes:

• Developmentally appropriate curriculum for children 2 to 6 years old
• 4-week semester with 12 different monthly themes
• Weekly 30-45 minute class
• Monthly Student Kit that includes a Family Magazine, CD with all the music from class, and an instrument every other month
